COLD CODE

Store the "cold code" you create on a password protected computer and online account. This code converts your random word-list to your wallet word-list. Create your cold code by subtracting your wallet word-list BIP39 numbers from your random word-list numbers.

fIND YOUR BIP39 WORD-LIST NUMBERS

Each word in your wallet word-list has a corresponding number (1-2048) that you will use to calculate your cold code. Use the template provided to find your wallet word-list BIP 39 Numbers. (Github word lists)

The Cold Code Kit provides you with a BIP39 English word-list and template card for convenience; however, the kit is compatible with any BIP39 language.

Create your Cold Code

Using the stainless steel random word-list provided with your Cold Code Kit, subtract your wallet word-list numbers from the random word-list numbers and add 2048 if negative. See the "How to" video for additional details.

Here's the formula for creating your cold code:

RANDOM # - WALLET # = COLD CODE # (ADD 2048 IF NEGATIVE OR 0); Do this for each word in your wallet word-list.

Store your cold Code & Random Word-list Securely

Once you've created and verified your cold code, save a photo of it to 3 password protected digital locations (ie. Google Photos, Dropbox and a cell phone). Store your Stainless random word-list in two separate and secure locations (ie. Your place and a trusted friend's or bank security deposit box). 

You can now shred or securely dispose of your actual wallet word-list! This is a huge security advantage.
